The master cylinder on my 72 started leaking from a hole that is low and just in front of the booster. I bought one from a parts house, but it has neither the hole that is leaking nor two zert-type fittings on the current one. Is it the correct one?

Probably not. I have been reading a lot of threads about guys that can't find numbers original masters from the early years.
I would suggest rebuilding the one you have. It's not very hard, maybe twenty minutes for the actual rebuild, and a total of an hour to remove it, bleed it, install it, and then bleed the brakes.
