HELP!!!! 79/82 seats into a 72 HELP!!!!!
Hey...........Im puting 79/82 seats into my 72 and have modification issues
what is the correct way to mount them??? it seems that i cant use the 72 tracks mounted to the 79 seats ...the 72 seat adjuster is not the same angle and the rear floor mounting holes are different. plus the seat frame holes dont line up with the track holes. the only way i can see them working is with the rear mounting tab from the 72 mounted to the seat track of the 79
can someone show me or tell me how they did it?
all the info that i have read has said that they used their stock seat tracks on the 79 seat frames/ but with the difference in the seat slide handle from the 72 to the 79 i cant see it happening
can someone show me their setup or give me a link to someones thread??
im going to add pics ,shortly

got your messages HD,
here is what I had to do
I used my original 68 tracks with the following minor modifications.
1. I heated and bent the seat ajustment rod so the angle was less, or the rod was flat if you will. It was possible to leave it as is, but impossible to move the seats if you dont bend it.
2. And this is the more important step, I had to trim the bottom seat buckets edge lip down about a half inch or so with a dremmel tool, that is on the outer lip where the track sits to get it to sit flush in the track channel. you have to do this because the bracket at the front of the later tracks raised the front of the seat up (your pic #1), and with out it the track wont sit right in the newer channel. with the seats installed, you cant even tell it was trimmed.(I hope that made sense). Once I did this, I was able to get the track to sit in the channel and mount them to the lower bucket , and install the cushions
after that, installation was normal
though on the 68 tracks the rear hole is centered on the track centerline, different from yours, so im not sure how that would work
let me know if you have any more Q's
cheers
