C4 seats in a C3??
Anyone ever put C4 seats in a C3? I've seen the C5 and C6 seats in a C3 and they don't look bad. However, there was a particular seat of the C4's that I liked and was wondering if anyone has done the swap. For those that have C4, C5, and C6 seats, do the seats offer a more comfortable ride?

I've seen the C4 seats in a C3 and thought they looked great. One was in Eureka Springs this summer.
I, like many, have the C5 seats in mine and find them 100% better then the originals. I had the '79-'82 seats for awhile and the C5 are a lot better, as far as comfort, to me. The C5 seats are very light and look right at home as well as being a pretty simple install.

I've installed C4 seats (non-power) in my 1980. The frame rails from the C3 seats were used, and a tab was welded on each to mount the front of the seats. The backs bolted right in. Very easy and clean. A lot more comfortable and way more side support.
The pic isn't so hot, but you get the idea...
Do you have any pics by any chance? I would love to see them.
I couldn't find any pictures of the C4 seats in the C3. The ones in this thread are the early standard seats. There are two other styles from the C4's as well. The ones I saw were the later C4 like the ones on the right in this link. http://www.mamotorworks.com/corvette-1-52-3972.html

I just found two pages of threads. Run this exact search, including quotation marks, in the archives, selecting all C3 forums: "c4 seat*". I think everything you need should be there. (Just in case you aren't familiar with archives searches, my "Search!" sticky in C3 Tech has instructions.)

I think gyopp has the nicest C5 seats in a C3. You can see his at the bottom of this thread. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1864035
Mine are just black Z06 seats. [IMG][/IMG]

I have sat in a C3 that had C4 seats and you end up sitting higher than before. Im 6' and i was almost hitting the top... one good bump and i would have. You have to consider that, but as to comfort, they are a million miles ahead of C3 seats.
Here is another question for you seat guys. Which option is more expensive? new foam and covers for a C3 seats or buying C4 seats to put in? that will be the deciding factor for me...

All those prices vary greatly depending on condition, shipping, leather or fake leather, etc. of course. I've seen standard C5 seats well under $500. but they are in rough shape.
C4 seats are all over the place, I'm not up on those. But I do have a pair I'll never use.

I have a 91 C4 with standard seats (both power). They are not the most comfortable seats. IN MY OPINION, my C3 seats are no more or less comfortable than the seats in my C4. Both have been recovered with new leather and both have the original foam.
If I were changing seats in the 72 I would not install my 91 seats.
I cannot speak to the newer C4 seats. Check in the C4 section for the guys with the newest C4s (94-95-96). There are a few of them with C3s.

I think they look good. Do the seats sit any taller than the stock C3 seats. I might be PMing you later on down the road (if you don't mind). I would def. like to see how you mounted them.

Those seats are phenomenal. I would also say that yours are one of the nicest as well. I think the C5 seats look a little plain without some color and I am liking the red on you seats.
