Removing drivers side lower dash
Got to remove the lower dash, gonna pull the speedo and tach and have rebuilt, plus gonna install Vintage Air unit, so it all has to come out. I have all the screws out, its loose, but do I need to remove the 2 large steering column bolts and drop the steering column? How far will it drop? and is that all thats needed. The rest of the dash and console are already out!!

You don’t absolutely need to drop the column, but boy does it make it easier to get that side of the dash out.
It’s not hard to drop the column two bolts (inside) on the fire wall and loosen the rag joint then remove the two bolts holding it up in place. One thing to note is don’t let the column just hang figure out some way to support it.
