Default seat replacement

I pulled out the original seat cushions and they do not seem too bad. I am thinking about ordering the leather-like seat covers from Wilcox. I have never done the seat-foam thing before. Are they a PITA to re-cover?. Can you tell from these pics if my original seat foam is still good or should I just buy the whole thing already installed?

I redid my own seats. Some will say to send them out. Not to bother with them. I did mine over a winter and spent about a week on them off and on. My foam was fine so I reused it. The seats were a challenge but if you go slowly you can do this. Get the hardware kit and be sure to have a hog ring pliers. Clean up your seat frames first. One of my frames was so bad I had to replace it....too far gone.Clean up the sliders too if you have manual seats.

You can do it yourself depending on how much patience you have,, I did mine ,, it was a first for me, they were comfort weave so I don't know about leather. I took me about one day for each seat, new foams, springs and covers. Its not all difficult,, you have to fight here and there but you will win.
I can give you a trick that I developed,,after inserting the rods in the covers, place the foam inside, with a black marker, poke through the holes to mark the spot to install the hooks, remove foam, install hooks and attach 10inch string to them to help pull them through the foam. once through the foam you can now easilly thread the second rod through the hooks, place the frame on top and attach with hog rings. I found that the installation kits did not supply enough rings but they are easilly found locally. make sure you keep all the rods and clips from the old ones,, as again the kits are incomplete. take your time and use your head, the results are excellent and you save a couple hundred bucks !!!!

I recovered mine in my 69, leather too.... If I were to do it again I would order the covers already attached to the foam, that way my fingertips wouldn't have to suffer so much. All in all it went pretty good .....for someone who had never done it before either.
