You know, I think it works so well because the C3's are so long. By not trying to keep the wheels under the fender by adding wood to the sides the overall ratio (length to width) of the car probably stays closer to the actual C3. Making the block wider throws this off and makes the car look stubby. However, I bet with a widened block you can make a rippin' C6.

The ESB was fast and a lot of fun to build...the boy was going for best in show but ended up getting a token award for "Longest Car". The leaders did the voting and they thought only a car can get best in show...everyone there thought we were robbed, but that's how it goes.

The funniest story was the first year with the James Bond car. All the kids were raving about it. Back then the kids chose the best of show based on popular vote, each being given two slips of paper to vote. Virtually ever kid voted for their one car, then a fave. My son voted for 2 of his faves and instead of his own. He ended up in a four way tie that he lost based on times, but if he'd voted for his own he would have gotten this sick trophy. When we told him he says "well of course I like my own car, but I like a lot of these ones too"...gotta love it.
