first off, my battery was draining turned out to be the alternator. bought a replacement from autozone. that was a couple months ago. all of the sudden now, when driving at night, as the rpms rise the lights begin to flicker outside and inside. sometime they completely go out.
is the alternator not keeping up with the car? not sure why its doing this.
second, whenever get up onto the highway, sometimes i smell burning i think its a brake thats locked up. there was a little smoke but i cant tell what side its coming from just know its from under the car.
Need more info...The headlights go out and also the dash lights?Whats your voltmeter doing?Engine doesnt miss?
On your brakes carefully lay your hand on each wheel after driving and note the heat.If one is hot you could have a bad brake hose.A bad hose will not allow fluid to return quickly thus keeping the brake applied.

thats what i thought the problem may be ill check on that today.
as for the lights. the engine does not miss, runs fine. all the lights, headlights and dash lights flicker and dim the higher the rpms go. at higher speeds the lights almost go completely out and sometime do, but when i let off the pedal and coast they come back fine until i press the pedal agian.

voltmeter does not work, so no help there.
thanks

fix your voltmeter or put an aftermarket in..possible the regulator went bad in the alternater...Electrical rebuilds from pepboysadvancedautoautozone aren't the best.

Wow never run into that before.Cant imagine how the alternator could cause the lights go out.The headlights and the other lights use 2 seperate feeds coming from the starter and dont become common again until the bulkhead connector. One other common would be the neg. ground cable coming from the battery and attaching to the frame under the battery box.So check the large pos. lug on the starter for tightness. Then make sure the bulkhead connector is tight. Then check the neg. ground cable where it connects to the frame and see if the cable is swelled and corroded.I cant remember if the 75 has the 4 wire connector just behind the passenger head coming from the starter but if it does check that to.
I am having this problem, that's why I came to this thread. My car is running perfect and I am guessing that it is the light switch. At high rpm's the lights flicker with increased vibration. The engine doesn't missfire at all. It must be completely located in the light system. The only current passage for all lights at once is the dash switch. I have rebuilt mine so I know what I'm looking for. I would see if the lights work fine when sitting in park at low idle. Then drive it hard. Notice when the lights flicker. Just putting my electrical know how to work, this is something in the switch. I don't update too often, but will come back later with feedback.
