Pulling a 1975 engine
Come spring I would like to pull the engine out of my 1975 coupe. I was wondering if there are any good books or DVD's out there that could assist me.
Thanks,
Danny
I just removed the 427 from my 69, took the 4 spd out first and stripped engine down to the block, I was able on my own to pull engine. Car was on ramps all four wheels and picked it right out of there!!! Good luck.......................B

If it's an auto, also remember to disconnect the torque converter from the flywheel before you pull the engine out. Leave the tranny in the car if your only replacing the engine unless you want to clean it up. It's a pretty straight forward job.

One thing to remember here, the Vette is not a tank like your Impala, room is a lot tighter and stance a lot lower. One problem I had, at least with my hoist, is that the wheel rails of the hoist hit the a-arms due to the lowness of the Vette. I was working in a tighter space on my 75 than my 69, so I extended the boom and shortened the legs to counter the a-arm dilemma, sucky thing was when I was putting the new motor in, the hoist tipped forward towards the car and the boom hit the firewall. Luckily no damage, maybe a scratch if I remember correctly. So using this knowledge, I put my 69 up on ramps all 4 wheels and since I now had a higher ceiling to deal with it made it a lot nicer, and safer, to pull the block out of my 69. Good thing I pulled it, the pass. motor mount was in 2 pieces and destoyed.
Danny, if you are in or near PA, and you can get the car to me, I'll help you do it, nothing like tearing a car apart!!!!!! (It's the getting back together thing when I lose interest).............Bruce
