I paid 29 thou two years ago for a '72 BB Auto Vert with very nearly matching numbers (except coil, alt and carb with no smog). The car needed paint and I thought the price was a little high however I had been searching for quite a while and this was the best I could find.
I feel the price for yours is a bit high.
You are getting some good advice here. This 72 would be worth $17k completely restored, but not the way it is. There are far better cars around, bumper cars included, in the $15-20k range.

Thanks all,
I will try offering 10k or less.
As DJordan442 pointed out. This car looks like a good deal, but first I want to try picking up something locally.
I'll buck the trend and say $17k for a NOM small block chrome bumper car' is not that bad of a deal....the values will grow stonger..so if the mechanicals are okay...and its all there....and you like the car...go for it.

whats the deal latley are chrome bumper priced falling? people are saying less than 20K for a 68-72
the prices seem to stablize around 12/15 there seems to be an abundance of cars for sale in that general area on l.i. there is a senses that the cars can be bought for under 10 but these cars aren;t in that great condition with the better low mileage originals going for 20 or better, as they say buy the best you can afford because, if you can;t do the work yourself you are going to get behind in the car but you have to remember it is a hobbie and hobbies cost money , buy a car to have fun with ,bond with family members, or just keep busy, not as in investment just look at the housing market, how many of them great deals are going to turn sour

You guys are completely missing the boat... look at the market, especially coupe vs. convertible. The NOM is a killer, but on top of that the fact that it needs a full paint job ($6k at a minimum, most likely much higher) plus the fact that it is a coupe and arguably the least popular of the '69-'72 series, $17k is a disaster.
Values will grow stronger, yes, but that's not much help when you foolishly pay $5-$7k too much for a car.
The auction ended at $9100.00 today. This car looks totally reasonable for the buy it now price.
Any New Yorkers out here want to check this car for me?
I'm in NY but Rochester is pretty far away, New York is a huge state !!
Rochester is closer to Canada then to New York City !!!

Vettebuyer,
I think you are right, but there are people who knows little about 69 corvettes and jump on anything that runs and pay a big chunk of change without knowing the actual value of the car.
These people are the ones that raise the market value.
