An electric C3 ?
maybee you just got a couple clouds stuck in your nose??
I most definitely did not want to turn this into a "tree hugger issue"
I was more interested in how attached you are to your engine verses the rest of your car.
I will admit that I would miss the rumble and driving range is another factor that sucks, but there are a few factors that make this conversion interesting for me.
1) There are street legal electric cars that can do the 1/4 mile in under 12 seconds. Search the internet if you're interested
2) Battery technology is getting better all the time (more distance and quicker). Upgrading batteries would be relatively easy
3) The cost of a conversion is roughly the cost of a new big block crate engine and some sidepipes.
4) Up here in Ontario, they are making the cost of speeding ridiculous.
50km/hr(roughly 30 mile/hr) over= $10,000 fine, loss of your car and your licence.
and the car and your licence are gone BEFORE your court appearance.
(I don't like it, but that's reality here)
So top end speed is losing some of its appeal, electric cars tend to be quick, not fast. I'm more interseted in making a quick car.
5) Just the look of some people as you quitely take off
6) $/km looks to be roughly the same as gas at current prices.
By the way there are other ways of generating electricity other than coal, in Ontario roughly 1/2 comes from nuclear, 1/4 from dams. And charging your week-end car by solar through the week is possible. And yes all of these generation forms have their drawbacks, nothing is perfect.
So peace, and keep writing...

I do like this idea though and you would only need to fuel up every 50 or 70 years with new plutonium!!! at least that is how long nuclear powered nimitz class carriers go before needing to be refueled.
fact is even if and when we change to a clean and sustainable option I will still be running good ol combustable fuel in my vette, just isnt the same without that internal combustion v8 pumping power to the wheels!!
