My C3 has been kicked out of the garage and on to the driveway by the wife!
I kinda like my wife so... I am forced to find a cost effective solution to protect my investment. I thought of paying for dry storage, that is very expensive my neck of the woods.
Can anyone recommend a high tech winter car cover that actually breathes and is waterproof?
Or...
Has anyone seen a mini portable shelter (cacoon) type shelter?
Any other ideas?
Thanks for your help!

Car capsule on sale now at Eckler's for about $360. But they're recommended for indoor use. Can probably pick up a metal carport for $500.ish but that's just a roof. Good cover in the capsule under a carport. A thousand dollars.
I just have a dust cover so I can't recommend an outdoor cover. I also have an upset wife every time she has to scrape her car windows. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
You could always buy an enclosed trailer, and keep it inside while it is outside. Argue the fact that you could use it to save delivery charges when you buy appliances, furniture, etc. You might even have room in it for a cot if she kicks you out!
I would not e...ven consider outdoor storage on soil! The moisture on warm days clings on the frame, engine compartment etc. Look in the newspaper for garage space, place an ad on Craigs list for storage space. Someone with space in an airport hanger....call the local small plane airports and ask if anyone rents car space.

I hate to tell you that if the car it outside wth a car cover or shelter. It is going to rust the undercarriage. I would get an unheated U store it garage. That will protect your investment. It's not cheap but it is the cheapest solution.
or
Try looking for a senior citizen that doesn't use there garage. Pay them for the winter. $200.00 for the winter is quite reasonable.
Good Luck
PS I'd drive the car into the family room. Now she's got her garage space.

Buy a used sea container to store the car in. You can even make it climate controled. Heat, A/C, mini bar, TV all for those nights when you are in the dog house.
The last used one I bought 40'x10' was $1000 delivered. it was a little rough, but it served the purpose.

Keep in mind it will have to be on the driveway and it must not be an eye sore for the neighbors

No, it couldn't.
You're telling us that a '71 War Bonnet Yellow 4spd is going to be spending winters outside in Washington state while some new car with all the latest undercoating and weather resistant materials is in the garage?
Excuse me for saying so, but that has got to be the most *****-whipped thing I have ever heard on this forum.

wtf... thats it...... i might have a new idea for a livable space.... got a link/etc.....
i could setup a mini shop in there and when i move just pick it up....
I've heard the car capsules are prone to mold.I dont actually know that. Here is how I have helped others store outside and inside cold storage.I lay down a large sheet of clear plastic that is larger than the car by 6' all the way around.I drive the car onto the plastic.I then put lots of crumpled newspaper inside the car and under the hood. Then I put soft towels all over the top of the car and then old blankets over the towels.I then stuff more newspaper up under the wheel wells and anywhere else I can stuff it.(I dont stuff it between the bottom of car and plastic on the ground unless the car is going to be monitored for leaks during the time its covered up.)Then I pull up the 6' of plastic around the car over the top and tape it to the otherside in several places only.(If I'm storing in the sun I put several of those thin chrome survival blankets that you buy at the dollar store on top and down the sides of the car to reflect the sunlight.)Now I put a piece of clear plastic over the top and down the sides and front of the car to center of hubcap level and tape in enough places to keep on depending on the wind.Dont seal it all the way around. You can stop there or add a good outside car cover so it looks better to the neighbors but dont put it down any further than the top piece of plastic. The bottom piece of clear plastic should be visable. If your not going to monitor the car then you can poke a few small holes at the bottom of the plastic just in case you spring a leak.

Sorry to hear it. Sell the car.
The garage is my domain she doesn't even get to keep garden crap in there. I keep her car plugged in when it gets cold out.
Leaving a Vette outside makes me think of gone in 60 Seconds...every junior car thief will be having a go a it
