Default Winter Carpet Project

It's time for a new capet set in my '70 this Winter, unfortuantely precipitated by a heater core leak which soaked the underlayer of insulmat. The insulmat that was in the car looks like bubble wrap with foil on both sides. I'm ordering an Al Knock carpet set which I know many or you have used.

What did you use under your carpet? Insulation mat only or mat and jute pad? What is the best insulmat to use?

Thanks in advance for the tips!

souds like someone installed Reflectix under the carpet. get some more or just dry out the one you have, it is available at any home supply store. you can also use some Dynamat for insulation but the reflectix is mainly for a heat barrier

Great minds think alike. I am also doing the carpet on my 70. I installed reflectix and placed the carpet with jute padding over it. I am not finished yet but the carpet fit well over it and it looks good so far. Time will tell if the reflectrix works well to reduce heat and noise but there have been several posts saying good things about it. It was very easy to install and easy to purchase at Lowes.
