I traced a ticking noise to a small exhaust manifold leak...The speed shop that put the engine in should have machined the exhaust manifold prior to installing them....BUT they didn't...so I have to spend additional time and money to get it right.......
When I had them off, I thought..now is the time for me to do it COMPLETELY right...so I took them over to a local powder coating shop and they will be ready Monday...
A pretty "charcoal grey"

First, I sent them to a local machine shop so they could re-surface the section where the manifold meets the heads. After getting them back, I cleaned them off with both Simple Green and Solvent; then rinsed them completely; wired brushed them really good then re-cleaned them (did this 3-4 times...protecting the resurfaced areas). Let dry, then took them to the local powder-coating shop and they ceramic coated them a "charcoal grey". It took one day to get them back. Cost: $135.
I don't know if you noticed...one of them is the original manifold (GM is stamped on it) and the other is after market..I put on about 4 years ago....

Stuart,
Those exhaust manifolds look great. I really like and prefer the charcoal grey color. I have always used Eastwood's exhaust manifold products and been very pleased, but may go the ceramic coating route next time.
