Default Now its true love...

When I bought my car it was because I wanted a project that would be worth something some day. I've rebuilt probaqbly 15 cars in my short 37 years and not a 1 of them was really worth anything when I was done. Surley what I put into them.

That shpiel helped me convince my wife it was a good idea to spend 8k on a car that to her looked like it should be junked.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

The car is a 68 #'s matching 427/390. I did do a little research when looking for the car and thought I would never be able to put a deal together with my ol' lady on a BB because of price.. Well the good lord wanted me to have this car and made it happen..

I started working on it and just like the other cars Ive had it was ok and somewhat fun. When I got deeper into it I started realizing what I really had. I have a BB car with a 4 speed mean azz tranny hooked up to a fully independent rear suspension. And no back seat. Im starting to get the idea that this thing is really different than anything Ive seen.

I pulled the motor:
[IMG][/IMG]

Cleaned it up, re did the whole front susp
[IMG][/IMG]

and put the motor back in:

The car today, still needs alot of work.

[IMG][/IMG]

But what has changed in this story is.. Today was the first time I really drove this freggin ROCKET SHIP.

This is why I am now truly in love. This car was built to run. I ran it up to about 3k let the clutch out somewhat aggressivly and floored it.

UNBELIVABLE!!!!
There's alot of pretty cars out there but there sure aint alot than can run like this. I had a 78 6.6 TA. I thought that was fast... Can you tell Im excited. Thats what Im about and this country's about Horse Power and Im wollerin in it..

Why do you love yours? Looks?. Performance?. Both?

Both. I'm working on both, and it has and always had the looks.

I like being able to make it my own and seeing everyone else make theirs their own too.

Nice car and the end value is meaningless after you "fell for her"

Car's looking good. It's coming along nicely. My car's pretty quick with a 290 horse motor, so I can only guess how much of a monster yours is. Make sure to post more pictures as it progresses.

Your car is badazz. I would only put Torque-thrust D's on, put in the glass and trim and leave it in primer. Just plain mean. /:\

Flippin' sweet ride! You got shocks.. satin black patina... 427 cubic inches. Did you ever take it off of any sweet jumps?

Back in '82, you could have had like three of those cars for $8500. And you could have been state champions. Just resist the temptation to use one of those "shocking" time machines...

I like the car, I like the story, and I am happy for you. We all love your car!
I think the F-250 logo would look good on the fender skirt. It would be the fastest thing that a Ford badge ever rode on!

Yea, I caught that after my original reply- but nobody even mentioned it. Nice change. There is no point in worrying about it. I am not to the driving part on mine- but I am REAL close. I guess it will be next spring. Did you get a long hood, or is that the short version? I did the same with my hood, and used the short style.

Car is lookin' good

I remember the first time I took my 68 for a drive, rather than just up and down the driveway. I took it to the station for it's first fill-up, then a cruise around the neighborhood. Didn't go far, the car still needed an alignment, but I still felt like a little kid with a new toy
