78 Speedometer

Was the pace car the only one in 78 that came with the 140 mph speedo? or did the silver anniversay come with it also?

My Silver Anniversary L-82 has a 140 Speedo.

ok, I had read somewhere that the pace car was the only one, but I am now seeing them in a lot of others from the factory, looks like my source book may have been wrong. Thanks

The speedometer face from 1978 was used through 1979 and S/N 44698 on both L82s and L48s. Well not exactly...L82s have the higher rpm ranges.

After that they get the 85 mph speedometer and the 55 mph "national speed speed limit' set for introduction in 1980 or whenever it was.
