Idiots tips for removing / installing a new engine
Great post! It brought back memories of me when I was about your age and in the Air Force, nearly 50 years ago. I had to overhaul the engine in my first car, not a Corvette, but a Jaguar XK120 http://www.myruffhouse.com/xk_120_jaguar.htm. The problems I encountered were different in detail but the same in that I learned as I went along. Definitely remove the battery cable before doing any work like removing an engine, I sure learned that the hard way.
Cheers and the best to you!

Thanks guys for all the support. Perhaps I should reorganize my thoughts and write out a whole organized process.
When installing the modulator back into the trans, I used the wrong bracket. I have no idea what that bracket was for and it was a little weird putting it on, but it did work. Needless to say the modulator popped out while driving kicking it into neutral. I refilled and replaced the modulator (which was lost) and she shifted from first to second, but not third. It also didn't shift into first from N as firmly. I thought the pump may be going. I took it to a trans shop hoping it was in the valve body and they said I needed a full rebuild. Thanks to a forum member, I found out there's a modulator valve behind the modulator that also popped out which was the whole problem. Soo, don't do that
