Default 70-72 front grill install

I am in dire need of some direction on the installation of the right and left grills for my 72 coupe. I have the AIM and lots of screws and brackets but if someone had real pics instead of drawings that would help a ton! I appreciate the help in advance...

I don't have any pics but the 70-72 grills are pretty easy.

There are 2 holes at the bottom edge and 1 on the outside edge of each grill. You should have corresponding holes in the body. A u-clip goes over the holes on the body for the screws to screw into.

There is a small metal bracket on either side of the license plate. They bolt to the large metal brace that goes up behind the license plate (as I recall). There is a hole inside an egg-crate opening on each grill where a screw screws into that metal bracket. There should be a u-clip on that bracket as well. If you hold the grill in place, you should be able to tell where the bracket bolts to the brace.

I'd take pics of mine, but a 70 is different than a 71 and 72.

Default Went through the same thing.

Let me try and get some pictures to you tonight. Email me at slickfam5@charter.net and I will send tonight after work. I will take pics of the brackets in place on either side and the middle as best I can.

Here's a diagram from one of the catalogs, same as the AIM. The inner grill brackets bolt to a bracket welded to the bumper, not the license bracket. 70 has studs, no screws from the front like 71-72's. Unscrew 5 screws and it drops out.

Default thanks everyone so far...

I had no idea that the 70 grills were different from the 71-72... that's a surprise for sure! Either way mine is a 72 .... specifically I am lookinng for pics of the brackets listed 2152K in the diagram that GD70 posted. If you look real close in the two pics from brdd you can see there are three screws in the outer molding and then there is a screw that is missing in the eggcrate part (closest to the center). This is where the 2152K brackets hook onto another bracket....and this is really what I would like a picture of.

Thanks so much...and Merry Christmas

Look up part # 423032R on the Corvette Central's web site and it has two pictures one of the front grill and the brakets and a picture of the bracket itself. Beware there is a left and a right.

Those inner grill brackets cost 11.50 each from ZIP and come with the mounting hardware. P.162 in their catalog.

yeah I have these brackets and everything I just wanted a real picture showing what they looked like installed... the other diagrams and drawings just kinda suck in detail.

thanks again,

The diagrams in the AIM should be sufficient. It's a pretty easy straight forward mounting procedure. Shouldn't take more then 10 min per grill to install.
