Well my 5 speed OD trans install is almost complete, it is down to the clutch pedal linkage and spedo connecting. I have modded the original t shift handle to come up in the original shifter location so no one will even notice that it is not original. I picked up the new shift plate I had made today made of stainless steel etched to have the shift pattern raised and polished with a gloss black background just like the original. So far I have $700 in the change over. The trans is out of a Toyota turbo pickup and looks like a TKO gear box. The neat part is the pilot shaft is nearly the same length as the 4 speed and the original throw out bearing fits perfect.

First off the 81 has a bolt in cross-member and all I did was cutoff the trans mound bracket and weld in a new steel bracket to beable to use the truck trans mount. I had a steel adapter machined to bolt to the original bell housing also had a new pilot bushing machined. There was no tunnel mods needed and a new drive shaft leaving the truck yoke out a little in order to be able to disconnect the u joint and slide in to remove the shaft and not need to remove the rear pumpkin. This trans is a really big unit almost double the size of my 4 speed. It looks just like the TKO trans. As for the gear ratio I have no way to tell but I do understand the OD is .82.
I did cut the floor to make a new hole for the shifter.
I will try to get some pictures this weekend and post them.
Bill I think I covered everything in my original post. but bell housing, flywheel, pressure plate, throw out bearing and fork are original 4 speed. you can see the adapter between the trans and the bell housing.
