I noticed what appear to be factory markings "FE7" on the front crossmember when my '76 coupe was recently up on hoists. I took a picture (see below). Does anyone know what this code means? Any help is appreciated as I'm not familiar with this, thanks.
FE7 is an option code for the "Gymkhana Suspension". Heavy duty springs, shocks and sway bar are the usual components of this pkg.
I just got this car in November so I'll go back and check the paperwork to see if this was a factory option ordered with this car. Just out of curiosity, does this give the car a smoother ride? I'm not up on my Gymkhana suspension systems. Thanks.
P.S Beautiful C3 - love the Steel Cities Gray colour, a classic.

Smoother ride? No, it's a stiffer ride but it also provides more control during spirited driving.
If I'm not mistaken...and I usually am...you should have a rear sway bar - that's the biggest tip off that you have the Gymkhana suspension package...assuming everything's factory. The non- Gymkhana suspension does not have the rear sway bar.

Thanks! I'll have to check it out when I take the car out of winter storage next April. In the meantime, I'll review the gazoodles of pictures I took when I was inspecting the car. Since I've never had a 'Vette before, it will be interesting to see how the Gymkhana suspension feels, especially when cornering. Thanks again to everyone for chipping in with information, Happy Holidays!
