I happened to come across this in a tread and it was never answered, I hppen to be looking for the same answer, does anybody have a picture they could help us out with? Thanks
Does anyone have a pic of the V groove that you made along a crack in the fender seam prior to filling? I'm ready to do it but am not 100% sure what it should look like when I'm done. Tried a search, saw a lot of great pics.. but couldn't find what I was looking for.
basically what you need to do is taper the cracked line about 1" in both directions..... hence the "V"...... the 1" in both sides will give you enough area to lay in 1/2", 1", 1.5" 2" fiberglass to properly structure the damaged area...... so when you taper..... sand down the cracked line to where you have about 1/32" left and then taper to the body thickness 1"+ on the way up....... if you can get to the back side of the crack then clean and reinforce that area also..... make sure to get all the air bubbles out and coat the fiberglass matt with just enough resin to lay down..... you should lay down about 4-5 layers of matt before filling...... also sand between each layer to get rid of the boogers/ridges....
