Default Help with TH400 removal...

Got the fluid drained..thanks guys!

TWO questions..
1. Cant get the upper fluid pipe off. The 1/2" fitting seems to be a bit rounded off, and I cant get small vice grips up in there to break it loose (no room). Any ideas?

2. I have a removable cross member. Should I (or do I NEED to) remove it if I plan to take the engine and tranny out together??

I could always cut the metal pipe if I cant get the fitting loose, then have new ones made up here, I suppose.

Thanks!

Try Nut Buster Wrench after a lot of PB blaster.

Removing the x-member will give the engine/trans more fredeom of movement, but it doesn't have to come out.

Steve

PS: Go ahead and trash the cooling line, and call Inline Tube for new ones.

Problem is clearance. I may lower the tranny slightly to get to it, but will probably get some stainless lines made up here locally.

Thanks!

saw it off, remove fitting after engine/trans are out.

I wouldn't recommend stainless for these, it is already difficult to get them to seal, and stainless is so hard, very difficult to get a good seal on the seat.

Good luck
