I got mine for my 69 yesterday. Took less than a week!
I leafed through it real quick, and I see that a lot of it is right from the 1969 Chevrolet chassis service manual (the corvette sections anyhow).
However, there seems to be a LOT of additional info and pictures that aren't in my manual. Also, I kind of like the state by state breakdown of restoration vendors in the separate hobby and sales group packet.
Overall, I am happy! Chevrolet customer service even gave me a follow up call the day after I ordered it to see if there was anything else they could do. Way to go, GM!

It's a packet of information about your car. It also has names and addresses of companies that still have or make resto parts for these cars. You know, the hard to find stuff.

I got mine in 4 days and it came Fed Ex. I thought it was pretty cool and nice of GM to send them out for free. Hey, that reminds me, I bought a '74 today so I could call for another one.

I have just ordered mine.
I am a little confused. I read a posting last week that prompted me to acll and order the package. The posting I read stated that the packet of info had a list of the options that came on your specific car. In othefr words it sounded like the next best thing to a tank sticker. Or factory documentation of rather your car came with the options it now has. But as I read more and more postings from people that have just received their package it sounds like the info is rather generic.
Has anyone that just received their package learned anything about rather your car came with any specific options based on the VIn #?
If not , then why is the VIN # needed?

I just ordered my restoration pacakage on Thursday. My understanding is it is generic info. There has been in the past a number to call for the equivilant of a window sticker (I believe) for late C3's. That info is not free, and I don't have the number.

I called but they told me that my "VIN number is too short"
Obviously, it was made in '73, before VIN standardization...
So I didn't get my resto package. :-(
Though I am hopeful about getting it taken care of when I visit my local Chev. dealer.

If your car is a '77 or later there's some company that will sell you a copy of the dealer invoice for $50 or so. If it's earlier than '77 you're SOL.
If your car was imported into Canada by GM (any model, any year), they have all the records available for sale.
If your car was built in Bowling Green, the Museum has your records for sale.

As Mike has noted, the detailed info as per VIN is available from GM Canada if the vehicle (not just Corvettes) was sold new in this country.

For my former 1979, some of the info was used to produce this poster for show purposes.

I've got to call them back. There was no specific info about my 82 just general info and names and addresses of resto shops and parts companies.
