Was just curious as to accuracy of the pricing. I've owned my 1981 for 25 years - it's never seen rain, etc. There is zero rust on anything - Car looks and smells showroom new inside/outside bottomside, etc. I can't imagine it being worth only $18,500; especially when I saw "restored" ones at Pro Team for the mid to upper $20's! The car still has the original exhaust system that is in great shape. Thoughts?

You are comparing a private transaction with a retail dealer. Different animal.

Sweet. the 1980 has gone up 16% in the last two years. I think one of the big factors on the 73 has to do with California smog laws, the last year you get to do what you want to it.

Hmmm That makes my Average 1971 LS5 Vert 25,000 + 8k for LS 5, so that is 33k for a decent driver? I think they are a little high. Although they are a heck of a lot closer than NADA!

I wonder if SOME of this doubt is because we are all here and are and thus slightly fanatical and maybe too close to this car segment to be unbiased?

I can't speak for the stated values of the chrome cars, but the rubber cars are way high in these lists. If you look at real world trading prices, you will find the published ranges anywhere from 10% to 25% too high.

My personal theory on why the 79 values are higher is simply supply. 79s were by far the biggest production year. Because of this, originality may not be paramount amongst owners of 79s. Many are likely to be customized and modified and go for different prices than they otherwise would. So simply speaking the data is skewed.

My guess is here in Michigan my low mileage 79 with complete repair history and excellent mechanicals but pretty poor paint would fetch me a MAX of $9,000.

Where are they getting these numbers from anyway? Maybe the Corvette market is different in Florida, but those prices for 80-82 seem really high to me. And $2,500 more for the 1980 L-82? Get real... I bought an L-82 earlier this year for $12k, which I would say is somewhere between good and show ready, and I guarantee you no one around here would pay $18,500 for it now...

Karol was kind enough to send me the January 2008 listing for the C2s. I must say that the prices are very high!! To the point of being unrealistic.
