Default tach problem
I've been trying to find someone with the same problem, but none so far. My tach goes all the way up as soon as the car is started. It drops back 2000-2500 when the turn signals blink. I'm thinking its a ground problem.....but where?

PM board member ACECO, he fixed the tach on my 79 and was cheaper than buying a new tach board. He could probably point you in the right direction as to what to do.
