There are 2 parts to the stamping. The motor build plant, date, and intended end use code are part of the engine factory code, and the VIN applied by the factory when the engine was put in the car is usually a derivative of the VIN, not the entire VIN, and it varies depending on the year. Buy an NCRS manual for your year to get the low-down.
