My 81 ac parts brought good money for parts I wanted and I didn't feel my vert conversion would ever need ac In the process of getting ready to paint I had to remove the door glass to get the mirrors off and guess what. I ain't gonna put that **** back in either. I am going to keep the glass but sell the heavy arssed motors and mechanisms. If the glass ever goes back in it will be manual. This is my car, it will never have another home and if rain ruins the interior I will buy some boat gauges, neoprene seat covers and indoor/outdoor carpet and a bilge pump for the next time.
I removed all that crap. Shaved off a good amount of weight, and AC is useless with T-Tops and removable rear window.
I just fiberglassed in the holes.
I got motivated this week and removed the rest of my AC stuff. Now I have this ugly hole on my firewall, but wonderful new room on the right side of the engine. I'm putting the fan motor back in because I need heat and defroster. Anyone other than acdelete.com that makes plates to cover this mess up. They don't seem to have one for the Corvette. Anyone make a custom cover that keeps the heater/defroster and fan motor functional?
I think I loss less than 10lbs doing this, but it really opened up the passenger side engine bay.
