Carpet Install Help .....please.......
Don't know where to start ....
The first thing - and imporant - do not tear up or throw your original/old pieces out. Use these as a template for cutting the holes for the shoulder belt cover mounting bracket, the rubber plenum hoses (up top) and the brackets for the t-top clips.
The old/original carpet had a jute and tar insulation pad on the rear. Do not try to reuse these unless the new carpet does not have any jute - will be to bulky and not mount down nicely.
Be sure to flip the forward bulkead carpet (behind seats) out from where it is tucked in on the out edges.
You will want to remove the carpet section that covers the rear floor (below the rear window ..) also. Getting the 3 rubber plugs out is easy - replacing them a whole other story. I think that the 3 compartment door frame has to come out too. It does for sure if you are replacing the foward bulkhead carpet.
From this point on - just take your time and match old to new carpeting.
Before you start - get the new carpet heated by placing in the sunlight for a couple hours or putting in the house. Keep them warm until you are just ready to start.
FITTING and TRIMING:
I would leave the bottom edge longer than you need, it can be trimmed once it is glued down. This goes the same for the carpet that fits up behind the rear 1/4 panels.
When glueing the carpet (3M works great) be sure to spray both the carpet backing and the fiberglass inner panels.
Let it set up for a couple minutes - till both are tacky to the tuch.
Install the carpeting from the top to the bottom.
I hope this helps some. If you need to talk out anything or have more questions - feel free to call.
