Default Thinking about an enclosed trailer

I might like to buy an enclosed trailer for utility purposes and for winter storage of my Corvette. How long would I need to fit just the car? What's the overall width of my '70? Any of you doing this?

If you can borrow a tape measure you can measure your car. That having been said, bare minimum would be 6' X 16' but there is more to it. First, the 6' is the minimum between the inside wheel wells. Next the trailer frame and ramp have to be strong enough to hold the weight of the car. Enclosed car trailers are typically 102" wide (outside width). Even with that, getting in and out of a vert with the top up or with a detachable is real fun. Little easier with a t-top. Anything narrower would be tough unless you winch it in and out. If you are looking to buy a trailer I would looK at one with a little extra space in it just in case you decide to take a trip one day.

182.5 inches for the length.
Following link with give vehicle dimensions:

http://www.100megsfree4.com/corvette/1970/vet70.htm

Make sure to get a trailer that allows you to get into and out of the car without having to go through the T-tops.

Would be best if you could actually trial fit car in the trailer.

I bought a 2004 24' Featherlite. More $$ going in but dang what a GREAT towing trailer. You get what you pay for. (if your lucky) Be patient and get the most trailer you can afford. I waited/looked for 4 years before finding mine. (used)I would buy a 20' AT LEAST!

I stored my vette in an enclosed trailer for years. The only reason I don't do it any more is because my collector insurance does not allow it. I have a 20 foot carmate trailer. If I were to do it again, I would get one with a drivers side escape door.

Mine is 8'-6" wide by 18' long. Soft ride torsion suspension on tandem axles.

That is getting out with the t tops on. But over the years I think the trailer has been getting smaller.

make sure the escape door is low enough to open a vette door. I believe some are too high for that.

Thanks for the great pics and advice. I'm going to give this some time and consideration. Maybe I'll rent one for the first outing.

And thanks for the dimensions. I realize I was being a little lazy not to measure the car but at this point it's still a 600 mile drive to get the tape measure out.
