Any suggestions on how to remove the mirrors of my pace car? I took the door panel off, with the window down one of the bolts is 3/4 blocked and the other is at a funny angle and hard to reach with a socket? I want to remove the to have it painted. Any suggestions?
With window up,loosen the window's in/out adjustment screws at top of the door to allow space for 1/4" ratchet with 7/16" short socket to fit between window glass and door frame to get to the front mirror retaining nut.
Then for rear mirror retaining nut, loosen lower glass stops (philips screwdriver)and run window all the way down...

removed the lower stopin the lower left on the driver door. Glass did no seem to drop any further? With a few extra hands and a little persuasion on the door frame. We were able to remove it.

My biggest issue was re-aligning window afterwards... Think pwr windows more difficult...
I had to take the glass out on my 81. Make sure you remove outer weatherstrip next to glass. I thnik it 3 or 4 screws. It makes it much easier to get glass out, roller doesn't get caught in weatherstrip.

What were the steps you took to take the window out?
Remove door panel and place window all the way down
Remove outer Seal 2 screws one located at each end of seal
Carefully pry out of six retaining clips
Take seal out
Remove anti rattle cushions
Put window up so to line up with two sash screws through acess holes in door and loosen nuts do not remove
Remove upper stops located on forward and rearward channel
Loosen all nuts on top of door so channels move freely
Now remove loosen sash nuts and carefully take out glass.
Thanks for the reply. You mentioned removing the rear upper
window stop but I wonder if this can be left in place? The other
end of the roller that is in this channel is in the sash channel.
