Another insurance ?

As far as Hagerty goes...the service rep said, "if your out for a Saturday drive and get hungry by all means stop and eat. But if your at home and get hungry on a Saturday take your DD."
A.Someone from Haggerty says you can drive it to work once in a while.
B. You have no mileage restrictions.
The question is...Why couldn't you drive it to work every day??? How would they know. You could just tell them....Hey, this was the first time I drove it to work!!
I also have Haggerty, and for the lfe of me, I cannot remember anyone telling me I could drive it to work..
Another Forum member in another state said that he had heard that Safeco offered insurance that allowed you to drive to work occasionally. I checked with my local agent (here in FL) and they have three plans based on need (use) and cost. Here are the scanned copies from Safeco about the different plans:

I chose the Restricted plan because I don't drive the car that much yet due to reliability issues. When I put the new motor, etc in the car and make it more reliable I can change to the unrestricted usage. The cost for the Restricted use to me is $416 for one year based on one speeding ticket in 2004, the agreed value on my 1971 convertible corvette (NOM 454) is $35,000, my coverages are $100k/$300k - $500 deductibles, I'm 50 yrs old, male, married, own a home and live in FL. The quote for the unrestricted plan was $974 including uninsured motorists ins. As you can see the plan specifically mentions driving to work. I don't have the actual policy Declaration page yet, but I expect to see similar languague in that as well. I've had (and still have on a 1964 coupe corvette) Grundy and their policy specifically does not allow driving to work or in any manner leaving the car unattended (like at a resturant). I also recently called American Motor Classics and Haggerty's and they both said NO to both the driving to work occasionally and to parking at a resturant and going inside to eat. One of them said "absolutly not!" So unless you have a policy declaration page that specifically states that driving to work once in a while or leaving your car unattended once in a while is allowed, you can be sure that it is NOT allowed. The girl at the other end of the customer service line at these insurance companies are not the ones who decide if the accident is covered or not, its the guy in the back office that is reading your specific policy. So I have to see it in writing otherwise I'm not risking it. If you have a stated value policy you are not insured for what you think you are or what you need to be insured for. There is tremendous risk in that kind of policy. If you have classic car insurance and in any manner leave your car parked unsecured and unattended you are probably not covered, unless your policy specifically says you are for that use. Few of them do, and your not going to pay $200 a year for a policy that lets you leave you classic car unattended /unsecurred.
My SAFECO insurance guy here in Sebastian FL is:
Marc Chesney
Great Florida Insurance
772-228-9908
He can write insurance for all of Florida and Safeco has an E-signature process so you don't have to be near Sebastian.
I hope this helps some of you. I don't drive my car a lot (yet), but when I do I don't want to have to register a driving plan with my insurance complany before I head out the door. But, maybe that's just me.

Thanks,

My wife is an insurance broker here in NY so I'll have her take over.
Chrissi,
Progressive is not the place to insure a Vette, but with tickets on your record you may have a choice. In the event of a total, you would only be paid the book value of an 81 Chevy. I'm not familiar with your states insurance regulations and laws, but the regular "Classic Car" insurers that I deal with, will not write a new policy with a problem drivers record. You must also have another vehicle insured and show them proof of a policy on that car. If your vette is your only vehicle, my suggestion to you is drive very carefully and keep your foot off that gas till your record gets cleaned up and you qualify for the "Classic Car" policy. (I know, I know....that's not any fun!)
Drive carefully and enjoy that car. (We have an 81 too!)
Janet
PS: To all the others who are shopping around, check the AM Best Insurance Rating for that company. Don't go with any of the companies who have less than a A or A+ rating. You will be asking for trouble in the event of a claim.
