one year ago today...
here's a reminder, if you ever find yourself and your vette stuck on the road, or even in your own driveway for that matter, just get help. it's not worth taking the chance that something bad can happen.
recap: 1) car stalled in road. 2) pushed car down road by myself. 3) jumped in to pop the clutch. 4) rear tire caught my left foot and pulled it under tire. 5) right leg came down inside car, pinned me there along for the ride. 6) tire ground ankle bone off.

i won't post original pics of the injury as they got yanked before. if you're really, really interested they're still up on photopost but you have to go find them.
as for the results so far, it's still getting better but that is judged by months now rather than days and weeks. i have about 80% of my extension/flexion (up/down) and almost no lateral rotation. i'm o.k. with that as that translates into more stability.
i don't run. well, i can but i have that peculiar limper's gate. and the foot tires quickly
i don't jump, much. i can but it's mostly with the right leg and the left is just kind of there.
my foot tires pretty quickly, as you might imagine, during walking events. if i know i'm going to be out for the whole day, i carry a cane for the later hours.
i'm still working on strengthening the calf muscle again, hoping i can get to a point where i might be able to jog without too much pain. i need to do something. i think losing weight will be almost as good for the ankle as the exercises.
you've been warned.
Are you working on and able to drive the vette? Is that helping with the mental aspect of your recovery and keeping you busy?
Best of luck to you and the remainder of your recovery.
Glenn

BTW, i was driving the vette with the cast on my foot about four months after it happened. it has only slowed me down a little. more than anything (vette related, anyway) it's a PITA because i can't extend my toes as far as i used to. when i depress the clutch to start the engine, i have to scoot down in the seat until i overcome the neutral safety switch. then i just scoot back up where i belong. it'll never be 100%, at least until they figure out a way to regrow bone, tendon and cartilige. i'm missing a little bit of all that stuff now.
i used to say, "it's not as good as i hoped, but better than i expected". but it's actually getting to be about as good as i could *reasonably* hope, so i can't even really say that now!
anyway, i just keep
at it. i'm actually skating again (my prefered form of exercise), but it's much harder on that leg than the other. that's kind of why i would rather run, i don't think it would stress it quite as much.anyway

I'm glad to hear you're doing much better.
...glad you're gettin' around better now.
Good to see you are on the mend
