Default Tach question

The tach in my vette is stuck at 2500 rpm. Does this mean that my circuit board is fried? I took the dash pad off and tried to drop the cluster to get at it. I even dropped the steering column, but still couldnt get at the cluster...so many wires. Is this a job for a vette shop or can it be done easily in my garage?

Thanks for the PM. The gauges in the article look like they are from an 80's vette. Do the gauges in a 76 come out the same way? From the front? It seems to me that I had every screw out of the cluster front and the whole unit came loose.

Help!
