Welcome to the forum and it looks like you have a lot of work on your hands. Before you get started, get it up on a lift and check it out thoroughly before you decide to dump money in to your project. You certainly don't want to throw good money after bad. If all the big ticket items check out okay, such as the frame and bird cage, then enjoy the rebuild. It's going to take a while, but for some money (major money) and time it can come back to life. How much that will take is anyone's guess!

Don"t let these guy"s fool you, half of em would give you 1500 for that car at the drop of a hat!!! Why just the rearend and tail lights are worth allmost half what you paid. Parts for these cars are notcheap, make sure you ask the forum before buying parts we can save you a ton of money. But then again we can also help you spend a ton of money

Wait till he shows you his front center grill, you"ll all be jelious with envy then!!!!!!!!!!

And welcome to the 74 club. david in n.c.

This
Way too many people bring up "value" here. Don't let them dissuade you. This is your opportunity to make this car yours.
Screw resale, if you are trying to make money, you are in the wrong hobby to begin with. Take things one at a time as your wallet and skills can handle.
Don't rush things, and in the end you'll have the Corvette you always wanted...

I don't think its his uncle. Its his grandpa's brother not his father brother. I am not sure what you call your grandpa's brother?

So in short his grandpa's brother screwed him not his uncle.

Granduncle maybe? It's a word in spell check, so that must be it.

Noun 1. granduncle - an uncle of your father or mother

Yeah that IS it. If the noun Granduncle means an uncle to your Father or Mother, then that would be a Brother of one of THEIR Fathers or Mothers, which would be YOUR Grandfather's Brother. Bingo.

Jakemary, don't get disenchanted with some of the previous replies. I've bought cars in my lifetime that were a far poorer starting point.

I've only seen a handful of Corvettes that weren't worth saving, and this one can be saved.

You can pick up a lot of used parts in a lot of different places. Ebay of course, but there are also swap meets (hopefully you're somewhat near an IHRA or HHRA drag strip, as they always host a spring and fall swap meet) and you never know what you'll find at a Saturday yard sale.

good luck and keep us posted.

Definitely a chance to do whatever you want to with the car. Better do something cool.

I got mine painted for $2400. But I am in a one horse town in SE Oklahoma. Plus, there really wasn't anything to do but take things off and sand and paint.

BTW, it's the Blue '82 in my avitar

When I was a 8 year old kid, our landlord owned a MINT 57 chevy 4 door. The guy built the entire thing from junk yard parts! It was gorgeous. Keep us posted on your progress.
