On the lower end of the steering column (out under hood and under the brake booster) there is a lever. Move it so that it is all the way UP. The lever is connected to a shift tube that rotates inside the steering column and opens a gate up in the column head only when it is in the UP position. You then will be able to rotate your ignition key from the OFF position to the OFF-LOCK position and your key will come out.
