68 vet restoration
Did a frame off, but just realized that I dont have 68 doors (no button)
I found a set, but they are power, and the ones on my car are crank.
Can I switch them..? What do I need to do..? It is crucial if I want top $$$ to have the correct doors.
I also was considering a set of seats with the headrest. Mine dont have it.
I dont have a build sheet, nor do I know how to get one, or if its possible to get one. Maybe the car was supposed to have PW..?
I have 2 69 doors, stripped primed and ready to paint, and a passenger 69 door that needs stripped/painted. I'll post that also in the for sale section.
Depending on the answer I get for the seats, I might have to red stock seats in good condition for sale also.
Thanks.
Why not leave the power windows in place? Sure you'll have to do some wiring, plus it's a nice option to have, and shouldn't hurt the resale value
One other thing-The manual window crank handle gets eliminated due to the switch to PW (obviously)...
The doors I found dont come w/the interior panels. Do I have to find ones made for PW or is there a way to modify the ones I have..? Was ther different door panels for auto/PW models..?
Thank You again!!!!
I dont even have the doors yet, so I'm getting way ahead of myself...I dont know if I SHOULD for sure go with PW over manual...

To my knowledge, the door panels are the same, except for the hole for the crank. When I bought my panels from Corvette Central, they did not come with a hole, ideal for P/W
Dave-Have you looked at consoles from Corvette Central? I had to buy a replacement as my original was cracked, so there was nothing lost in cutting for switches. After removing/replacing the original one many times for various reasons, the 30 something year old plastic kept breaking, so I replaced it. The repops are more flexible than the originals & fit alright

I never liked the '68 doors because of the outside button AND because of the interior panel. For resale purposes the '68 stuff is probably better but I would consider leaving well enough alone if it was a driver I was going to keep for a while.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that you bought a '68 and "just noticed" the doors are from the wrong year while doing a body-off. 99.9% of the potential buyers will kill you on the price at resale time, and rightfully so.
Just a suggestion... Corvette owners generally don't just change doors on a whim. I would be looking for all the other body and frame damage that usually comes with the slightest reason to replace the doors on your car by the previous owner.
This is another reason to get the doors right. When you go to sell, most buyers will look at the wrong doors and immediately wonder how hard the car was crashed.

The frame was rotten and I got a new chassis to replace it. I think the car was raced, a probable crashed many times.
Got a new frame now (sent to the frame shop to get it perfectas possible), body looks good and straight.
Get the right doors, stock hood and everythung else is good to go, I HOPE....
I'm gonna print that list of stuff 68 has individual and check and see if my car has them all!!!!!!
