Default Any Aggies out there?

My son's car is broke in Aggieland and I need to know of a shop that won't take him for a ride. I heard some good comments about Olympic Automotive but they wouldn't answer their phone yesterday.

Any body know a reputable shop in Bryan/College Station Texas?

I'll PM you with my #. I'm close by (45 min or so) and have a mechanic buddy that is about the same distance the other side of there. Maybe we can help out.

He has a 99 escort with I think a blown head gasket. I was about to pay someone to change it until I found out about the 600-1500 labor charges. Parts on top of that. I don't think they were being dishonest I just don't know any of them. I do so much of my own work I forget what it costs to pay someone else. For that kind of money I can afford to go get it and bring it home then take it back after I'm done. It's just a long way down there.

I found that Tom Light and Garlyn Shelton's service sucked. They were way overpriced and did work that didn't need to be done. This was several years ago so they might be better now.

By friend with the shop near Conroe said that they are bad about overheating and if it is a head gasket, (he has one in his shop right now). The single overhead cam engines run about $600 to $800 parts & labor but sometimes they heat up enough to damage the valve guides and drop a valve. That means a used motor which would be $1200 or so installed depending on what is out there at the time. I sent you my # if you'll call me, I'll hook you up with this mechanic.
