Default Nit-Picky 68 Qquestion

I just received some real nice original 68 grilles w/ the original silver paint.....perfect for a survivor (Thanks Neal!!!).

My question is, I noticed the surrounding edges on my other set, that i know are GM replacements, AND the original (non silver tipped) on my 69 are a little different. The edges are thicker on the replacements, and the original 69's.......also the mounting tabs are "beefier" on the replacements and 69.......has anyone elso seen this? Can any 68 guru's tell me when they started to beef these up? Thanks, and stay safe, john

Sounds like you got to much time on your hands. Just Kidding. My 68 has the originals with worn off paint. Can you shoot a pic of the originals?

Nope, just OCD (according to my wife)........actually,the reason i was asking is if they are "early' 68, I was going to send them to a friend with a Sept 67 car......Can you pm your email and post them for me? Thanks, john

The set that was on my car when I got it had no silver on them- worn off, or replaced -who knows. I still have them, but I never noticed a difference from the replacements. I would like to see the real deal, but I won't bother to make it original.

My 68's are flush on the sides and not stand outs like this version. Mine look stock, but who really knows.

The one on the left is original----no question, no doubt, and hard to find in good condition.
