I installed hydraulic hood supports in my 1977. Mine involved a lot of fabrication since I made my own brackets for both the base and the straps and brackets that hold the top portion of the strut.

If you tilted the whole front end forward, wouldn't the nose hit the ground?

a very professional drawing....i think this would be cool....an acuator at each corner to lift the hood vertically and level up off the car would be cool at shows and if you go high enough easy enough to work under...or make it detachable.

They are stock F-body hatch supports. I don't recall the measurement of them, but they sell replacements at Autozone and Oreilly if you don't get used ones like I got.
