If you don't have the "special tool", flex the door panel in and once you locate the end of the clip you can use anything slim to push on the end to dislodge the clip. I used to use an allen wrench end before I got the "tool". Problem is sometimes this angles the clip due to uneven pressure on the clip ends and it ***** the clip and some maneuvering is needed to get it off. It is doable without the "tool", just use some diligence....GOOD LUCK...................B
By the way, clip is shaped like an Omega symbol
No need to buy the special tool (which also carried at most automobile parts stores and paint & body stores). Take a shop towell or a thin rag. Put the rag around the door handle in a single layer between the door panel and the handle. Move the rag around until you feel some resistance and then pull on the rag and the door handle at the same time. It will come off that way. I do it all the time.
I made my own clip removal tool from a small jewelers screwdriver. I bent the end of the screwdriver at a 90 degree angle. This allows me to grab the end of the clip and pull it off. Here is a photo of the traditional tool and how it removes the clip, and the screwdriver method
This is how the screwdriver can be inserted to grab the clip.
it also helps to know that the end of the clip is opposite either the flat part of the door lock, or the end of the window crank handle.
