Default Custom Front Grill

When I was looking to buy mt C5 I saw a C3 with a billet front grill that went all the way across the front, with breaks on either side of where the license plate was, but that was grilled too. I am now shopping for a C3 and I'm in the works of purchasing a 74, anyone know what I'm talking about?

I searched this forum and google with now luck

They may either be very old or very custom. I have not seen anything like that offered lately.

I kinda rembember it being a shop that either offered only corvette parts, like billet items for a few different aplications, or a place that did billet grilles for all different aplications

Oh I could see perfectly what you were describing. I have considered having something like those made to go with my custom signals and foglights.

The mock up looks like a 73-74 grille to me with the center grille and no parking lights.

Check out my 73 here. I lightened it up as much as I could.

Mine is a '77, so I never had the option of that center grill insert except from the after market. I have no shots of the nose removed.

I have seen the metal '74 grills sell for upwards of $400 on Ebay, and a few after market places used to sell black plastic grills that fit several years. However, I have not seen them in any catalogs and buying one off of a used car is about the best way to get one.

The center grilles easily go over $400... However, if you keep an eye out you might be able to find one for under $300. Just about a week ago I saw one on ebay go for $230 (read HUGE BARGAIN).

Sounds to me that you want a '73 grille. They are the same as a '74 except the '73 has the chrome edge with the black fins.

That could be cool if it wasn't so goofy for every day driving. Maybe a more 'designed' piece.

I think anyone whe has a 73/74 will eventually face some grille issues. I would like to think someone will reproduce these parts at some point. Has anyone successfully had theirs replated, and by whom?

i saw a white c-3 that had a custom grill made. i think it was a 74. i am going to be making one similar for my c-3. i cut out the front bumper in the center to make a single opening for the grill.
