I am looking for someone in the Little Rock, AR area that would be willing on checking out my 81 that I am starting to restore. At the moment the engine is pulled and dismantled, the interior is gutted, and both front and rear bumpers are off. If you have not guessed I am close to pulling the body to restore the frame. Even have the body dolly built.
A little history of the car. My father bought it new. Drove it for a number of years. Then parked it for six or seven years with a bad master cylinder and not all of that indoors. Finally got the brakes working again but it is still in neglect. He said “get it out of my garage and it is yours.” So naturally I jumped on that. I tried to get it running right but never could and decided to rebuild the engine. After pulling it, there were so many other little things that I decided to bite the bullet and start restoring it. The frame is not too bad, but it would have to be stripped and painted sometime.
I have no (did I express NO) experience in restoration, but think this is going fun and educational project. But, while I am not afraid to try anything, I could use a little guidance. I was hoping that I could find someone to take a look at how far I am going to have to take it and hopefully a little advice. I have been looking on the forum for some time and have found a lot of information. I would like to thank everyone for being so helpful. And if anybody is willing to help a brother out I would be forever grateful.
I would love to help but I only make it down to Little Rock about once or twice a year to visit a really good friend. He's not good with cars or I would send HIM over. Sorry.
There are a lot of us who are not professional mechanics or restorers doing complete rebuilds of our Vettes. Fortunately there are also a lot of professionals who hang out on the forum to give good advice. You will find the answer to just about any question you have here and in time you will get to know who to trust for advice on different aspects of restoration and repair.
I do appreciate it fellas. Like I said I have learned alot here. Actually this site is what inspired me to go ahead and do it. Alot of work yes, but worth it in the end.
Maybe you oughta try looking up a Corvette Club that would be local to you, just beware that some Corvette owners are purists and dont condone ANY modifications,,, Peace, Moosie
I'm about three hours from you, maybe this summer when I get a break I can stop by and check out the work.
Good Luck
The clicky on the Central Arkansas Corvette Club out of Little Rock, is a good start. I'm a member out of Pine Bluff, and have a 82. There are about 250 members in the club, and like this forum...some knows a lot. In fact, being so close you should look into joining. Give me a PM if you would like more info.

Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
