I am looking for a 5-1/8" hole saw, bi-metal for cutting plastic, and I am having a hard time. I can find 5" and 5-1/4" but not in between.
Does anyone have or know where to obtain such an odd size? I have searched a lot of online companies that specialize in hole saws but I have had no luck.
This is for a project on my Corvette so it applies here in General.
Have you tried Lowes? I know they have some odd sizes. I was looking for a 3 1/4 for potlights and found it there. I seem to recall larger sizes up to 6 inches.

Yep, I have tried Lowes, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, and a few local stores that specialize in tooling.
All have said they know the size exists but that it's not on any of their catalogs.

I have one of those and it does pretty good on flat stock. You can use it on Some odd shapes like a kick panel, but back it up on a piece of thick foam.

Use it in a drill press and go SLOW
I actually have one like that already but the stock is not flat, it's convex. I have to have a traditional style hole saw I think or it won't work.
I've had to cut odd-sized holes in foam cored fiberglass bulkheads. I used a rotory saw (like a RotoZip) and a 1/4" masonite tempate. The hole in the template was the radius of the hole I wanted plus the radius of the rotory saw base. This method allowed me to cut multiple holes the same size with smooth edges.
take a 5" hole saw and then a sanding drum....... if it's plastic you shouldnt have a problem............ can always try to spary mount some 80 grit sandpaper on the outside of the hole saw and hopefully it'll open up the hole more.....

That would work perfectly except I need what comes out of the center...not what the hole is cut into.
I'll take a look up here over the next few days. Just so I understand you need a 5 1/8 hole saw. traditional type that goes on a drill. Right?
Jim
That's exactly right. Drill press mounting, but the material is not even and has to be cut with a tradition style hole saw.

If I understand this correctly, you are looking for about a 5" core????
John
Yes, I am looking for the core to be a perfect round 5" shape. That and the uneven surface s why I have not attempted to use a free hand saw of some kind, and that's why I don't want to use a 5-1/4" hole saw and sand it down from 5-1/8" to 5".
