After looking for 2 months and giving up, I found my build sheet glued to the gas tank shroud. Still in good shap but the center is still glued to the shroud. Next step I might go ahead and drop tank and remove shroud to remove the rest.

can you tell me exactly how you found it i.e. where did you look from/through etc. i too have a 77 i'd like to find the build sheet on. good find!
The safest way to get the build sheet is to drop the gas tank. Some have also found a second build sheet upon removing the dash pad, but is less common.

Congrats! Sounds like you're removing it in pieces...be careful removing the balance. Best method I've read is to use a razor blade and cut the glue from the shroud.

There is a metal shroud bolted to the frame, so the tank has to come out and then the shroud has to come out. Once it's down, you'll see the sheet glued to the driver's side.
My paper was intact but the type was all worn away. I had a clean white piece of paper.
I always thought that the build sheet was on top of the fuel tank. I dropped my tank and had no luck finding it. DB are you saying that the sheet is inbetween the metal shroud and the fiberglass?

Yep, they moved it to the top of that shroud in '77. I am also pretty sure that '77 is the only year to have that shroud.
I dropped the tank a few inches to look on top first. Then yesterday I doing more cleaning around the tank area and seen gravel caught behind the tank shield. Took the bolts out to clean and WOW!!! Stuck to the drivers side at the top was a paper. Hind sight I should had took my time and dropped the tank, remove the sheild and not get in a big hurry. But,, WOW! My Wife said I acted like Indiana Jones with the Corvette Holly Grail. If you have the tire carrier out and remove the bolts that hold the sheild in, you can look up the side and see the sheet if it's there.
The sheet was on top of the tank shroud on my 77 too. I'm glad I didn't go through all that trouble just to find the build sheet because it was completely faded out.

Actually, this is called a gas tank shield, not a shroud. Here's a few shots of what the build sheet looked like before removal from my '77's shield.
My 75 Convertible has that tank shroud would my tank sticker be in the same place?
Yes, I would bet $$$ that this is where your build sheet is. I am sure that they used this gas tank shield during the years 1975 thru 1977. There's no telling how many people have dropped their gas tanks & found no build sheet & put it all back together, never realising that their build sheet has been there all along, glued to the top of this tank shield....
