Default 82 Head Lights

Wow, last Saturday was great day here in KY. So good I took the cover off, put the battery in, cleaned the dust off, and took off for nice ride. It was great!!! As I was going through all the mechanics to ensure eveything was still working , I noticed that the head lights were acting funny. I don't drive it much at night so not sure if there is a problem, but want to check to be sure. When I turned the head lights on, there was a delay with them popping up. The right side light came up first, then the left. When I turnd them off, again a delayed reaction, the left went down, then the right side. Is this normal or are problems on the the horizon?

This is normal. The system is vacuum actuated, therefore the delay and uneven operation of the lights.

Are you lucky, we had 5 more inches of snow in Ann Arbor last night. I agree with the others about the headlights but you may want to replace the seals on the actuators, one may have a vacuum leak causing it to take more time to do its thing.

Thanks to all for the responses! We now have about a little snow, but it is cold. So I guess I got lucky last weekend, but it was soooo nice.

Same with my 82. Normal for vacuum operated lights.
