Code 50 for 1981 is Beige in color. The 1981 and 1982 cars had a two-tone paint option, hence the 50U and 50L, the U and L denote upper and lower body colors.
My 1982 is a factory two tone car, paint code 24U and 26L - 24 is Silver Blue, 26 is Dark Blue. Both colors were available as a solid color option so a solid dark blue car would read 26U and 26L.
Yes, this helps. The car is red now and I thought this would be a red code that I could match my engine to. It apparently had a very good paint job as I have never seen any indication of the former beige color. I will have to take a t-top for a color match. Thanks for all the help.
I believe your first number 641 is for Camel color leather (Bowling Green)[/QUOTE
Yes, I agree...I have bowling green car with camel interior and mine reads 641 80u 80l so I'm assuming that the BG cars had a 1 or I rather than 642 like st louis cars.
