Need help - Vin Decoder? #'s matching?
I'm new to the forum and considering a purchase of a clean restored '75 Vette convertible.
Owner claims it's the original powertrain. It's been repainted.
Is their any resources to decode these 13 digit VIN's?
I also want to know if the car is "numbers matching" - Where can i locate the engine / trans #'s and how do i know if they are correct for the VIN?
Any input on what this car might be worth? Pictures are here:

Welcome to the forum. That looks like a nice '75. Get the engine number which is stamped on a pad right below the front edge of passenger side cylinder head. Check that against the serial number of the car. The last few digits should be identical if it is a numbers match car.
Also, get the trim tag numbers off the tag at the front of the driver's door jamb. This shows in the last picture.
1975 is the shortest run Corvette convertible produced since the coupes were introduced in 1963. This is an appreciating Corvette. An L-82 car is very scarce foe 1975. And Steel Blue is ultra rare. Find out if any of these apply to this car to help determine its value/desirability.
I sold my '75 convert. a few months ago. It was an L-48 4 speed, completely restored for $25,000.
Good luck with your purchase.
Best,
Greg

Change the 74 to 75 if you want to see 1975 stuff.
