My Stainless Steel Fuel Lid is FINISHED !!! (Pics)
Man this thing is beautiful. Lots of work went into this fine piece. The disc and mounting flange on the back were done at a local metal shop. I helped, as it was cut out on a water jet, and a pad for the stock screws was welded to the back. It screws right onto the stock lid hinge.
I then surfaced it, and sent it to my etcher, who already had my design on file. I sent him what I wanted it to look like and he etched the ring, the flag, and marked the spots where I drilled and tapped for the screws. They are perfectly spaced to match the markings on a clock.
I think I will leave it brushed like it is, instead of polishing it.
What do you guys think? The plate sits flush with the rear deck and it opens and closes just like the stock lid did.

Very nice!
Hey DB, I'm curious to see what you'll do with the shark art I did for you. Any thoughts? Were you going to put it above the side fender vent?

Yeah I have it and a few altered versions. I'm waiting until I can place an order for at least 20 or more, so they won't be $10 each and they will be like $3 each plus materials.
The larger the quantity the cheaper it is with small stuff like the shark fender emblems and anything else I come up with there.

Gas cap looks real good. Ever thought about mass production and selling them? And yes, if your talking about a decal, keep us posted. Might be interested in that too. Thanks, steve

Here are two pics of the fuel lid installed. Please ignore the crap paint on the deck. I thinking this summer before the shows start I will do some doctoring on the paint to get me by until I can afford a GOOD paint job.
I won't ever mass produce these. First, it was expensive between materials and labor and shipping, close to $150. It also was a long process with lots of custom touches.

Thanks, I'm leaning towards brushed over polished right now. Hard to go one way and then change my mind though. I think it will stay brushed.
Thanks again, I AM very proud.
