Has anybody seen one of these hoods installed?

Is that the high rise hood? If so, I'd like to see how one looks too. I'm not a fan of the L88 hood. I don't remember seeing a grove or ridge in the high rise hood though.

I'm always fighting clearance problems. How much extra clearance does it provide.

Here is your Eckler's high rise hood with a stingray scoop on top...

Looks like a C4 style rise on it. Looks pretty interesting.

I have an extra one of those around. Good clearance, not as good as the L88 - but quite a bit more then the SB version.

What do you want to know?

I don't think yours is the same as fauxrs2's or panic's. The transition from the front of the hood to the high rise is steeper on yours - almost like the L88. It looks like the rise starts ahead of the radiator support and reaches max shortly behind that. True?

The rise on Panic's hood looks more like stock. (BTW, nice scoop job panic! Did you do the glass work yourself?) The Ecklers hood fauxrs2 posted looks to have the same low angle rise. That's the low stock-like angle I want.

Default Hope I'm not hi-jacking the thread, but...

Do either the fauxrs2' hood or panic's hood come up enough at the back edge to have cowl induction underneath? The stock hood on an '80 comes down to the firewall, windsheild wiper motor, and a few other obstructions. If either of these two hoods leaves a decent sized opening in the back, I'd keep the new Ram Air Box air cleaner I have now and hold off on another mod until I can afford a new hood.

On mine you've got plenty of room in the centre/rear area as you add the scoop rise to the high rise hood...

I have THIS under my hood and still there is room for more...

Panic, I've always liked your car.

Do you have a picture from inside looking forward that shows the back edge of the hood?

Does anybody else with a non-L88 high rise hood have a picture of that?

Eckler's has 2 of the hi-rise hoods- 68-72 & 73-.
Heights from Eckler's.
Hi-rise 68-72 is a little less than L-88 hood.
Hi-rise 73- is taller than L-88 hood.
Med rise 73-79 hood is only 7/8" lower than L-88 hood & all of these including Med rise 73-79 hood allow cowl induction.

Indeed the hood im descrining has a C4 style hump in the center, it supposedly provides about an 1 1/4" clearance improvement over a stock hood.

I'm interested in possibly adding this hood before a re-paint I am contemplating. I think it looks pretty sharp without being over the top in height.

but primarily im was hoping someone might have seen one and maybe even had a picture of one.

And if you do have one of these "lying around" and Bee-jay doesnt pounce I too would be interested

That's the time to switch hoods.

I wasn't thinking ahead to any mods under the hood when I media blasted my '80 and repainted it. I regret that because I will probably have to repaint the whole car when I finally get the discretionary cash in pocket to put on a high rise hood and the mods I want to fit under it.
