Default Image Hosting

Hey guys, I've done some more updates to the Corvette database I've been building at www.corvettelink.com and added some things that some of you might enjoy - Image hosting & brag pages!

Basically you can get your own URL, like yourname.corvettelink.com to give out to people (or if you have your own domain and want to use it instead I can hook that up too) and you can enter info about your corvette(s), upload photos, etc. You can even do password protected albums, put descriptive text on each individual picture, the whole nine.

If you already have an account with photobucket or a place like that you probably won't need this, but you might want to check it out and see if you like it better - it's in the infant stages right now and there is a lot more that I'd like to do. One neat feature that's active now is that if you link an image to the forum here or on another site, it will automatically tag your site's URL in the bottom of the photo - but when someone is viewing it on YOUR site it won't show that tag. For example:

You can see the "sample.corvettelink.com" text at the bottom of the image. But if you're viewing it on the page the image originated from, http://sample.corvettelink.com/viewImage.asp?ID=1203131 you won't see that tag. Took a bit of programming to get this to work right, but you'll see what I mean and what the advantages are when you get a chance to play with it. Either way, the cool thing is that no one can link to your images without you getting credit for it. The site automatically gives you the code to link to the image directly, or the "BBCode" version if you want to reference it in the forum, so those of you who have been asking about image hosting lately this may be a better solution for you.

As always, feedback and suggestions are appreciated. As of this time there is no limit to the number of vettes, albums, images, or bandwidth and unless you plan on getting like a million hits a day I don't plan on ever having those limits so knock yourself out. Over the next couple of weeks I'll be doing some more with this and making things more customizable (so you can change the colors & layout on your site, etc.), and eventually if there is anyone out there documenting their restoration and wants to make an album for it I'd like to have a special section just for those where people can see all of the ongoing restorations. Anyway I have a lot of ideas and I move pretty quick with this stuff so if you get a chance check out what's there so far and let me know what you think.

You can see an extremely generic-looking sample page at http://sample.corvettelink.com
