If they are a "restoration shop" then installing stuff like this is way below them. I would think any good auto repair shop would be much cheaper and do a good job as it isn't that hard. Just basic wrenching.
Before I started doing my own work on my car (as I had no place to work on it when I lived in condos), I had sidepipes installed and it was $350 about 5 years ago...
Pay my plane ticket and I'll come up and change them for additional $400

I would say it took me 8-10 hours to install mine and that was using jack stands. With a hoist it would be much faster. The only things that need to come off are the entire old exhaust system and the rocker moldings. I guess $1,500 might be a bit high for this job. You might ask them if they have ever installed a set before. If not, then they are just being conservative on cost.
What's the big deal about the old exhaust? I had them cut mine off.. Took 10 minutes to remove the entire old exhaust system...
The entire job shouldn't take more than 3 - 4 hours.. In 8 hours, I can pull and re-install my engine and transmission...
